It’s been a few years since electric cars hit our roads, but electromobility has been accelerating more and more in recent months, and many have fallen for a zero-emission model, when others are considering doing so very soon. Also, it is not surprising to learn that 2022 was the best year ever recorded in France in terms of overall sales, with around 203,000 electric vehicles sold in our country. That is approximately 40,000 additional units compared to last year.

Electric cars: the top 10 sales in France in 2022

Electric cars which are therefore on the rise (in a global market at its lowest since 1974), but which models are favored by the French? It is the AAA Data institute which has been responsible for calculating the sales of each manufacturer, and in France, it is obviously a car “made in France” which ranks first.

This is the Peugeot e-208, a model based on the thermal version of the small city car with the lion, but which obviously has a 100% electric motor. With 19,219 units sold, the Peugeot e-208 is ahead of the small Spring from Dacia, credited with just over 18,300 sales. The podium is completed by Tesla’s Model 3, with just over 17,000 sales, despite a price that exploded in 2022, exceeding 50,000 euros for the basic version.

In the rest of the Top 10, we find the Renault Megane E-Tech, the very popular Fiat 500 e, the small Renault Twingo, not to mention one of the pioneers in terms of French-style electromobility, namely the Renault ZOE. In eighth position, we find the Tesla Model Y, followed by the Peugeot 2008 and the Hyundai KONA.

Note the performance of South Korean Kia, which manages to place its recent EV6 in fifteenth position in the ranking, with just over 3,000 sales. In 2023, the manufacturer not only wants to continue to increase EV6 sales, but will also come to play spoilsports on the electric SUV market, with its highly anticipated EV9, which will notably come to rub shoulders with the Model X of You’re here.

For the record, the American manufacturer’s electric SUV is ranked in 63rd position, with a total of 116 copies sold in France in 2022. For its part, the Model S is credited with 186 sales, but it should be remembered that the two models have recently been reintroduced in our country, via the new versions which until then were only offered in North America.
