The mobility orientation law, which was promulgated on December 26, 2019, regulated this possibility.

Since that date, nearly half of the French departments have chosen to increase the speed on all or part of their roads, and return to the previous level. According to the Drivers’ Defense League, to date 46 have made this decision, i.e. nearly 52,000 km of roads concerned.

Here is the list of departments that have changed their roads to 90 km/h:
