It has only been a day into the new year when residents of the apartment building in Grimsta in western Stockholm are woken up by a powerful explosion. 76 people live in the stairwell, of which 15 are children.
SVT has obtained a surveillance video that captures the explosion.
– It was a powerful explosion with great devastation in several apartments, says Fredrik Norman, head of preliminary investigations at the Stockholm police.
No arrests
Shortly after the explosion, four people were arrested by the police, including another well-known rapper. But a couple of days later they were all released and the suspicions were written off.
– They were judged to have nothing to do with this matter. Initially there was information that pointed in that direction, but after a couple of days of investigation it turned out to be completely incorrect, says Fredrik Norman.
At the moment, no one is in custody in the case.
Explosions every other day
The crime in Grimsta is one of the 13 bombings that occurred in Sweden during the first 26 days of the year, shows SVT’s mapping. A total of over 450 people, including 70 children, live in the stairwells that have been affected.
Two weeks after the explosion in Grimsta, a woman testifies about how her daughter was affected by the incident.
– I told her it was fireworks, but she understands what is going on. She is scared at night and sleeps with the light on, she says.
