In an official statement published this Thursday, January 12, 2023, the management of Al-Khaleej indicates that “it is the player who asked to leave”. “The management of Al khaleej announces the termination of the contract with the Algerian player Djamel Benlamri at the request of the latter for purely private reasons. The club’s management salutes the efforts made by the player during his time at Al-Khaleej and wishes him good luck for the rest of his career.”wrote the Saudi club on its official Twitter account.
Moreover, Djamel Benlamri, the 33-year-old Algerian international, had been playing at Al-Khaleej since June 2022. Often injured, the former Lyonnais played only nine games with the promoted. Now without a club, he will try to bounce back under other skies during the winter transfer window.
