The My Ai service launched to Snapchat’s paying users in late February, but now opens the Open AI-powered chatbot also up for the remaining users. You can make My Ai a bit more personal than many other chat bots, for example you can give it a name and a Bitmoji avatar. My Ai can be added to group chats where, among other things, it can recommend different image filters you can use in Snapchat and places to visit based on the app’s map function.

The chatbot must also be able to detect images and be able to draw certain conclusions of its own. In the example of Snapchat’s own presentation, ain was shown an image of tomatoes, after which it generated an image of gazpacho in response.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel wants to take AI in a slightly different direction than powering search engines like Google and Microsoft are doing with Bard and Bing. “Just based on how they work, I think they’re much better suited to creative tasks.” Some examples of creative tasks that Spiegel himself has used My Ai for have been planning birthday celebrations for his wife and creating bedtime stories for his children.
