Despite several boycott attempts, the RPG based on the Harry Potter saga, Hogwarts Legacy, is a great success. The game is also available today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The boycott of which Warner’s RPG was the victim obviously did not had no effect on his success commercial. The game also sold nearly three times more than the studio had initially hoped, with Warner’s stock market value even surpassing Tesla, Meta and Amazon. Moreover, after being pushed back a month, PS4 and Xbox One versions are now available.

Hogwarts Legacy thus sold to 15 million copies, and grossed over $1 billion. This sum should soon climb thanks to the release of the game on consoles from Sony and Microsoft. David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, states:Hogwarts Legacy a accumulé over $1 billion in retail sales and over 15 million units sold in the world to date, and today the team is launching the game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.”

Hogwarts Legacy Coming Soon to Nintendo Switch

But the studio does not intend to stop there, and will bring Hogwarts Legacy to the Nintendo Switch next July. And according to JB Perrette, General Manager of Games at WB Discoverythis port will be even more important than the release on home consoles. The manager says:We probably see a much bigger install base and fan base there. (…) We think that this release will have much greater impact than those of the PS5 and the Xbox Series“.

Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game in February 2023 and remains best seller of the year so far. But the RPG will soon have to face a major competitor with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which will land on Switch May 12. Moreover, the latter is already available for illegal downloading, beware of spoilers!
