Here we are again, friends of well-maintained Eurogamer.de video content! In our new Quick Talk Event format, we take a closer look behind our editorial work and randomly select questions, apart from current gaming topics, from a brimming catalog of discussion topics. What game deserves a remake that realistically will never happen? Which gamepad have we liked best so far, or which console is just underrated?

Note: This time something went wrong with the sound on the software side. We apologize for the suboptimal sound quality. It’s our turn and we’ll do better next time.

Today, Martin, Alex, Benjamin S. and Ana are starting with three topics that couldn’t be more different, because in our talk gacha we’ve had topics around video game music, underrated consoles and rage quits falling in front of our feet (the sound is sound quality this time unfortunately not good sound problems):

Which soundtrack has the biggest catchy tune factor?

The question of a good soundtrack is easy, that of a catchy tune rather more difficult. It has to be catchy, you’ll recognize the melody everywhere and probably won’t get it out of your head for weeks, and besides, a catchy tune doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s positive. The music could also accompany you for countless hours over unplayable levels and thus ensure that it sticks. Have you ever had such an encounter during a video game? From Super Mario to Benjamin’s years-stalled Starglider jingle to Persona 5’s “Take Over” battle theme, we’ve come up with an unexpected number of songs and soundtracks.

Is the Super Mario Theme really the universal gaming catchy tune or does another song accompany you when you think of video games?

Which console is underrated?

Whoever says Dreamcast flies! We asked ourselves which console really didn’t deserve to be punished like this in public. What hardware did you have fun on that was forgotten too quickly afterwards and was rated rather poorly by the mainstream? We agreed fairly quickly that the Kinect, for example, has already deserved its punishment and that the Dreamcast is doing quite well in general terms. 3DO, CD-i or Neo Geo Pocket were also discussed, but for our big favourite, you have to watch the video above!

What was your worst freak out in a game and why?

No Rage Quit theme is complete without Dark Souls, but what frustrates us more than big, tough bosses?

We all know them, the rage quits. It’s only logical that games like Dark Souls caused many broken controllers or holes in the walls (screens? chairs?). But when exactly do such moments appear and do we learn to deal with them better over time? For example, Alex found that even when he deleted Tactics Ogre’s entire arsenal with a single click after hours of tweaking, his physical response to frustrating moments diminished. Maybe over the years you develop the right vocabulary that correctly represents what you would otherwise have expressed physically. Whatever the case, we all agreed on one thing: no one is really proud of their outbursts of anger.

Do you have further questions about the entire field of gaming and beyond? Let us know in the comments! If they make it onto our list, it could be your turn next Wednesday!
