It is the wand that chooses the wizard, Not vice versa. This will also be true in Hogwarts Legacyaction RPG by Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software which in just under two weeks will catapult us into Wizarding World of the late nineteenth century.

Although, as an action RPG, it features an in-depth character progression system, for canon’s sake Hogwarts Legacy will not leave players complete freedom in certain aspects. As confirmed by Warner Bros. Games Support, for example, during the adventure moving house will not be allowed exactly as it will not be possible to change the wand. Responding to a fan interested in the matter, a support manager explained: “We’d like to tell you that you can switch wands and houses in the game. However, once you get them during ceremonies, you can’t switch them again for the character.”

In all likelihood, no one would think of changing their house in the middle of the campaign, but there are those who hoped to be able to use different wands during the progression. It won’t be like this: the wand, just like the house, it is part of the magician’s identity and as such it cannot be replaced at will. The bond that unites them is extremely important, as even Harry Potter himself was able to discover when he set foot in Ollivander’s shop for the first time.

It’s not yet clear how the official Sorting and Wand Ceremony will play out in Hogwarts Legacy, but luckily we won’t have to wait much longer to find out, since the game launches February 10 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (some PS5 copies have already hit retailers!). If you just can’t wait, you can already get a house and a wand thanks to the Harry Potter Fan Club: the outcome of the ceremony can be imported into Hogwarts Legacy!
