Despite the controversy surrounding JK Rowling’s comments, Harry Potter fans are well on their way. In Europe, sales have exploded.
Harry Potter fans were eagerly awaiting it. They therefore gave a triumphant welcome to the video game Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy. Since its official release, a week ago, sales have reached new heights.
The game, available on PS5, Xbox and PC, is at the top of the best-selling video games on Amazon or even on the Fnac website. Same thing on the Steam platform.
“The first week of Hogwarts Legacy was 56% higher in Europe thanElden Ring. This is the biggest game launch outside of Fifa And call of duty Since Red Dead Redemption 2 (released in 2018)” explains on Twitter Christopher Dring of the specialized site Gamesindustry.biz.
Suffice to say that the game derived from the universe of wizards rubs shoulders with the biggest video game successes of recent years. The game shines first with its qualities, obtaining an average score of 90 out of 100 on the Metacritic site. Tech&Co had also appreciated this immersion in the Harry Potter universe.
“We have the impression of diving into what we imagined when we read the books or when we watched the films” enthuses the youtuber Julien Chièze, interviewed on BFMTV. “Inevitably, it makes films dream.”
And these sales also underline that the boycott did not ultimately take place. Before its release, players were calling not to buy the game because of the comments deemed transphobic by the author of the books, JK Rowling.
