So why isn’t Hermione Granger in Ravenclaw? This example allows us to illustrate how there are many misunderstandings about this house. Getting good grades and being a smart person are two things that can go hand in hand. There are many ways to expose and use your gray matter. Moreover, curiosity and therefore open-mindedness are among the qualities of students with the eagle coat of arms, assets that Hermione struggles to develop over the years. In the books, she doesn’t appreciate Luna Lovegood’s ideas and isn’t even open to considering them. Although Luna is not seen as a student as brilliant as Hermione, she embodies what it is to be a Ravenclaw. Also, Hermione is extremely determined for causes that do not necessarily concern studies, like all her activism for the house-elves, an aptitude which corresponds especially to the Gryffindor house. Unfortunately, some think it best that Hermione is not a Ravenclaw, on the pretext that it would be better to be a hero than a nerd. A reflection that completely devalues the excellent qualities of this house.
Another cliche which may deter fans from being part of this house is the extravagance of certain characters. For example, that of Luna Lovegood is eccentric to say the least with his thoughts and behaviors outside of reality. The divination teacher, because of his gift of clairvoyance, also turns out to have a strange and even disturbing attitude. These two characters illustrate in their own way their open-mindedness, whether in the way of seeing and apprehending their existence and what surrounds them., or in the exercise of a discipline of magic shunned by many wizards because considered “imprecise” (notably by McGonagall). However, these two characters are arguably the most cartoonish to represent House Ravenclaw.
Ravenclaw is a house that has good characteristics that some Internet users and fans can identify with. Maybe in the future the students of this house will be better represented, like the Hufflepuffs with Norbert Scamander and the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film series. This would appeal to fans of the blue and winged house.
