O union demands about 600 million dollars (546.2 million euros) in salary increases and other benefits, such as compensation that a team member receives whenever the product is broadcast on television again and which, according to the organization, has been reduced by streaming platforms.
The last strike that the union held was in 2007 and lasted more than a month, resulting in a loss of 2.1 billion dollars (1.91 billion euros) for the North American audiovisual industry and the dismissal of 37 thousand professionals.
