Honda Motor China has launched Honda e:, a new brand for electric vehicles, under which the company presented the three two-wheel electric two-wheelers Cub e:, Dax e: and Zoomer e: in Shanghai. This works from a communication from Honda from Tuesday. The electric “mopeds” are among Honda’s first efforts to offer more than ten electrically motorized two-wheelers in different performance classes by 2025.

At Honda, the three electric vehicles fall into the “Electric Bicycles” (EB) class. Generation Z, which Honda wants to address with them, can apparently no longer pull the gas tap like with the combustion engine-powered models. Instead, they now have to pedal as with classic pedelecs in order to receive electric motor support.

The top speed of the three vehicles, each powered by a wheel hub motor, is 25 km/h. Honda initially does not provide any further technical information or information about the price of the vehicles.

The design of the three electric “mopeds” is based on the recently introduced vehicles Super Cub, Dax and Zoomer, all of which are equipped with single-cylinder four-stroke engines and can drive at speeds of more than 25 km/h. These vehicles already have quite long historical roots. The first Cub dates from 1958, the Dax from 1969 and the Zoomer from 2002.

First, Honda wants to launch the Cub e:, Dax e: and Zoomer e: in the Chinese market. The three EB are part of Honda’s plans to bring five affordable electric powered two-wheelers to stores by 2024. In addition to the three EB, “Electric Mopeds” (EM) should also be there. These vehicles then have a top speed of up to 50 km/h. According to Honda, the plan is to introduce the vehicles in other parts of Asia and Europe.
