Medical interns are calling for a strike on Friday April 28: they denounce a lack of recognition, longer days and too low a salary.

It’s time for a break, in the streets of Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), for Clémence and Anaïs. They are internal to the hospital. After seven and eight years of study, they are paid only 1,600 and 1,700 euros gross per month for 35 hours per week and actually work double that. “We push back our abilities more and more, but in the end we also remain human, we are not machines”confides Anaïs Bazane, president of the autonomous union of interns in Alsace.

Interns represent up to 40% of the medical staff at the public hospital
