Who is Ko-fi for?
The platform is aimed at streamers, podcasters, artists, writers, photographers, filmmakers, cosplayers, artisans and other creators who want to produce content and receive financial support from their audience.
Despite a similar footprint to Privacy and OnlyFans, Ko-fi does not allow content that features nudity, violence or hate speech.

How to configure Kofi
Your Ko-fi account must be set up via the website ko-fi.com and personalized with username, profile picture and topics of interest. You are also invited to choose between two objectives: to be a content creator or to help other creators — an option that can be changed at any time.

When choosing to use Ko-fi to make money, you can inform how you plan to raise funds on the platform:
- Donations or tips;
- Monthly signature;
- Sale of products (physical or digital);
- Commissions or services.
You can choose one or all monetization alternatives. Ko-fi supports different currency systems, including the Brazilian real. To transfer the amounts received on the platform, you must connect your profile with a PayPal or Stripe account.

With these settings in place, you can start publishing content, advertising products, and sharing your profile page with other users and social networks to attract followers.
How does KoFi work?
Ko-fi allows you to share content in the following formats:

When accessing a user’s profile, you will also find a donation section to “pay a coffee” to the creator — an expression used to represent the minimum tip amount in the chosen currency. It is possible to pay or receive several “coffees” at once.

In the free version of Ko-fi, there is no fee charged by the platform on amounts received for coffees (donations). However, there is a 5% fee on commissions, subscriptions and sales.
Better than Gold
There is a paid version of the platform called Ko-fi Gold in which there are no fees charged on commissions, sales or recurring subscriptions.
Ko-fi Gold also offers some additional benefits such as:
- Higher quality of images in the gallery;
- Extra colors to use on the profile page;
- Ad deletion.
Subscribers can also change the name of “coffee” donations to other expressions of their choice.
