The FundPlata Foundation made the usual monthly report on the variation of the food basket in La Plata – made up of products from butchers, grocery stores and greengrocers – which showed 4.9% during January.
The survey was carried out in 18 shops in the city with sale to the public of the three items, included 26 products and was carried out in thirteen neighborhoods during the fourth week of January 2023. The study showed that The item that had the greatest increase was greengrocery products with 12.5%; followed by butchers with 4.1%; and for warehouse products with 3%.
“Regarding food in particular, the products that experienced an increase well above the average increase were orange, carrot, apple, tomato and bread among others“, said Julia GallizziFundPlata economist.
Galizzi said that “this food basket from La Plata cannot be directly compared with the CPI food basket and with the one corresponding to CABA, since the latter are more extensive but this exercise can give us a pattern of the evolution of the price of food in general and of certain foods in particular, which make up the 3 baskets”.
