They are available in extra long, up to the ankles, or very short: quilted waistcoats not only keep you warm, they are also trendy. An image consultant explains how to find the right copy.

Munich – Whether double-mobbled outside or without a coat inside and in the transitional period: quilted vests are a warming trend. And they can be combined in many ways, says Munich image consultant and fashion blogger Martina Berg. However, you should pay attention to the right length.

According to Berg, long and medium-length pieces that reach mid-thigh or beyond go best with trouser combinations. Shorter quilted waistcoats can also be worn with a dress – for example with a straight-cut knitted dress or a shirt dress.

Tone in tone or gaudy

If the pieces quickly seem too expansive, you can also pay attention to the size of the quilting. “If I don’t want to look quite so voluminous, the smaller stitches are better than the big ones,” says Berg.

If the waistcoat is in the same tone as the rest of the clothing, this also reduces the volume effect.

If, on the other hand, you want to draw attention to the quilted waistcoat, the image consultant recommends light beige tones for an otherwise monochromatic, dark outfit – or quilted waistcoats in bright colors such as green.

Her tip: Better to do without flashy accessories such as necklaces. dpa
