Google Meet allows you to hide the video of people present in a video call. This feature helps to avoid distractions in important meetings and can be used to focus on who is speaking in the meeting, for example.

The change is only valid for Google Meet on your device, i.e. it does not remove the person’s video for other participants. Also, the muted account doesn’t receive any notifications about this command, so you can use it to follow the conversation with ease.

How to Turn Off a Person’s Video in Google Meet

by cell phone

How to pin a video to the Meet screen

When you don’t want to hide someone’s video, but need to make other participants in the spotlight, you can also choose to pin some people’s image to the screen. Just follow these steps:

  1. On your PC or mobile phone, open the list of participants;
  2. Select the three dots icon;
  3. Press “Pin to screen”.

Meet lets you pin up to three people or presentations to the screen.

Google’s video calling platform also allows you to mute the microphone of some participants. Unlike the video option, this feature also affects everyone else present and can only be triggered by one of the room’s moderators.
