This Saturday (29), the Federal Court ended the suspension of Telegram in Brazil. However, the daily fine of R$ 1 million per day until the complete delivery of data from neo-Nazi groups possibly involved in attacks on schools to the Federal Police (PF) remains maintained.

The decision came from federal judge Flávio Lucas, from the 2nd Specialized Panel of the TRF-2 (Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region). “The measure of complete suspension of the service is not reasonable, considering the widespread affectation throughout the national territory of the freedom of communication of thousands of people who are absolutely foreign to the facts under investigation”, says the magistrate.

Telephone operators (Vivo, Claro, Tim and Oi) and app store owners, Google and Apple, will be urgently notified about the annulment. Businesses must end “any kind of app lock”.

Telegram suspended in Brazil

Telegram was suspended in Brazil on April 26 for failing to deliver all the data requested by the Federal Police in an investigation into the attack carried out on a school in Aracruz (ES) in 2022.
