Investigators with the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) announced the arrest of Harry Nelson, 65, for cruelty to animals after 30 dogs were found in unsanitary conditions and for allegedly having an unauthorized waste facility.

According to detectives, they received information about a property zoned at 15600 Southwest (SW) 172nd Avenue for agricultural purposes that was being used as an unauthorized solid waste facility.

Using aerial photos, detectives discovered that the property was covered in debris, which fluctuated in size over various dates, authorities said.

After executing a search warrant, police not only found that the property was being used to illegally accept solid waste, but also found all 30 dogs in cages and in unsanitary conditions, according to the police report.

Miami-Dade Animal Services recovered all 30 dogs and veterinarians were able to evaluate them for various health issues.
