After a week of strong political tension, the Minister of National Security, Hannibal Fernandezand his Buenos Aires counterpart, Sergio Berniled a meeting on Tuesday to coordinate the assembly of the “Conurbano Unified Command” and the dispatch of gendarmes to La Plataamong other hot areas of the province.
The meeting, which brought both ministers together for the first time, was held to coordinate the work of “Command 2”, which includes the districts of Tigre, San Fernando, San Isidro, Vicente López, San Martín, Tres de Febrero, Morón, Ituzaingó, Hurlingham, Merlo, Moreno, San Miguel, José C. Paz and Malvinas Argentinas; and of “Command 5”, which includes La Plata, Berisso, Ensenada, Berazategui, Florencio Varela, President Perón, San Vicente and Cañuelas. The Secretary of Security, Néstor Pulichino, participated for the municipality of La Plata.

WHAT BERNI SAID
After the meeting, the Buenos Aires Minister of Security, Sergio Berni, stated that “there is a strong decision” from the national government to “support the province of Buenos Aires with human resources.” “Today we agree that they -the national government- will continue working to coordinate between the federal forces and when they have everything defined we will be working together,” said the Buenos Aires minister in his meeting with the press.
In this regard, Berni maintained: “We all know that human resources in the province of Buenos Aires are scarce, for which reason we are in dire need of reinforcement by the federal forces.”
He also considered that “technological mechanisms must be implemented to be able to coordinate because we, for example, received 30,000 emergency calls and we need to coordinate in a province that is 1,800 times larger than the city of Buenos Aires.”
Regarding the times of effective execution of the human resources of the federal forces, Berni pointed out that “this is determined by the Nation when it can guarantee the operation”, although he estimated that “it will be soon”.
In the end, Berni also pointed against the Judiciary because “in addition to a reinforcement of human resources, we also urgently need those sectors of the State that have an enormous responsibility in the construction of citizen security to stop looking to the side and get to work because it is impossible to generate true security if those who are detained are not detained”.
