HPD Unveils Investigative Report On Astroworld Fest Tragedy

HOUSTON – This Friday the Houston Police Department released its more than 1,200-page report on the incident at the Astroworld Festival, which left 10 people dead on November 5, 2021.

The report contains the testimonies of survivors, police personnel, members of private security teams, representatives of companies participating in the logistics, preparation and execution of the concert, among others.

Last June, a special jury presented its conclusion on the criminal investigation of this case and found no individual guilt for the tragedy.

The report states that the fatalities died from suffocation.

The document was part of the criminal investigation that has already been closed.

Civil lawsuits, representing thousands of people who attended the concert, are still ongoing and are seeking millions of dollars in compensation, so the decision issued by the grand jury has no direct implication on these investigations.

In fact, one of the firms representing hundreds of plaintiffs in the Houston area, Kherkher Garcia LLP, said Friday that “the report – while it is important for people to see – simply confirms what has been discovered and What has been feared: that the organizers and promoters had a failed plan where they put profits above safety concerns.
