Considering he was once known for his roles as a soapy British charmer, Hugh Grant’s recent film appearances have been different to say the least. Just a few weeks ago, the actor portrayed one of the main antagonists in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesand now Warner Bros. has revealed that the actor is appearing in this year’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prologue, Wonka.

Grant has been cast in yet another unexpected role as none other than an Oompa Loompa. This was first revealed in a piece of footage shared from the film at CinemaCon, where attendees were shown an orange version of Grant’s face on an Oompa Loompa body. Whether Grant will play every single Oompa Loompa, as Deep Roy did in the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, remains to be seen.

Wonka is expected to premiere in theaters later this year, on December 15, 2023.
