Originally from the cultures of the Eastern Mediterranean, the hummus it became a famous dish worldwide due to its versatility and unique flavor. And on its International Day, which is celebrated this May 13, we share the recipe for this preparation based on chickpeas in the style of Raíz Plant Mood.

100% plant-based hummus

Ingredients

-200g of cooked chickpeas
-30g of extra virgin olive oil
-30g of toasted sesame seeds
-25ml of water
-1/2 clove of garlic
-2g of salt (approximately)
-15ml of lemon juice
-2gr of ground cumin (approximately)

How is it prepared

Wash the chickpeas well to remove the liquid in which they are submerged in the preserve. Drain them and put them in a food processor or blender. Add the peeled garlic clove (if we remove the germ it is softer), the sesame, the cumin, the salt, the lemon juice and the water.

Blend until a semi homogeneous mass is obtained before adding the extra virgin olive oil. Continue blending for a few minutes or until you get a creamy mixture. You can add more creaminess to the chickpea hummus by adding a little natural vegan yogurt.

For presentation, it can be served with roasted eggplant, cilantro, julienned red onion, sesame seeds, olive oil and paprika. In Raíz Plant Mood it is accompanied with homemade pita bread, nachos, toasts or a bread of your choice.

On the other hand, adding to the celebration of International Hummus Day, Kyros launched three new flavors to taste: chickpea and pea hummus, lentil hummus and black bean hummus. All three follow the original recipe, but substitute other proteins for the chickpea.
