Italian authorities have seized the assets of Artem Uss, a Russian businessman wanted in the US for smuggling military technology. A villa near Milan and 160,000 euros in an Italian bank account were confiscated. The authorization for the confiscation of the assets was signed by Italian Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti last night, Italian media reported.

Uss, who was arrested in Milan in October, escaped from his apartment in Milan, where he was under house arrest, at the end of March and fled to his homeland. A day earlier, a Milan court had granted an extradition request from the United States. The Russian had broken his electronic ankle bracelet and reportedly returned to his home country with the help of Russian intelligence agents. In the US, he faces up to 30 years in prison for evading sanctions and money laundering.

Now his father, previously governor in Siberia, recommends himself for higher ordinations.
