Court authorizes immigrants in New Jersey to sue for politics "zero tolerance"

Monterrey (Mexico) Aug 19 (EFE).- The aspiring opposition presidential candidates for 2024 agreed that Mexico requires “a shift of the rudder” in terms of public security to stop the wave of violence and disappearances registered in the country , during a forum with supporters in which they addressed various topics of interest.

Senators Beatriz Paredes, from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), and Xóchitl Gálvez, from the National Action Party (PAN), who along with PAN deputy Santiago Creel are contending for the presidential candidacy of the opposition Broad Front for Mexico, spoke this Saturday on the insecurity that prevails in the country.

In an interview with EFE, within the framework of the second Regional Forum, held in Nuevo León, in northern Mexico, both agreed that it is “essential” to “turn the wheel” to face this problem.

“We have been insistent, energetic, Santiago Creel has also been, that it is essential to change the helm, that a different, different public security policy is essential and to attend to the complaints of thousands of relatives, to attend to the victims and it is It is crucial that there be answers and a preventive policy as well,” said Paredes.

For his part, Gálvez indicated that the government of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador lacks a policy to combat organized crime and instead put into practice an occurrence.

“The strategy was not that of “hugs not bullets”. (It was) an occurrence and the consequences have been disastrous,” he stated.

The policies thus referred to acts of violence such as those registered in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, where members of organized crime kidnapped and, presumably, murdered five young students, as well as the reaction of the Mexican president who, when questioned about the subject replied “I can’t hear”.

“What seems unfortunate to me is that he has not referred to the issue (…) it is not possible (in) a morning conference where you have five young people missing not to mention anything. That is what can be criticized”, Gálvez stated.

Paredes seconded her by maintaining that it was “a total lack of respect.”

The controversy over the disappearance of the young people murdered in Jalisco was generated when last Wednesday, at the end of his usual morning conference, López Obrador was questioned about his position on the disappearance of the young people from Jalisco; However, the federal president replied that he was not listening and then told a joke.

In the second Regional Forum, the candidates for the presidential candidacy for the Broad Front for Mexico reviewed issues such as Pemex, clean energy, nearshoring, as well as poverty and inequality.

The event is part of the forums that have been held since August 17 and will culminate on August 26 in different cities of the country where aspirants to represent the opposition debate various topics of interest.

After them, a final defining survey will be carried out from August 27 to 30, through which the opposition candidate who will seek to face the ruling party represented by the party of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the National Regeneration Movement, will be selected. (Brunette).

The announcement of who leads the preferences and, therefore, champions the opposition Broad Front for Mexico, will be given on September 3, and that of Morena will occur on September 6.
