Pierre, Vincent, Camille, Julie, Paulo and Aïcha are what we call “voice hearers”. Despite the a priori, the stigmatization and the mockery of which they are often victims, they agreed to confide in front of the camera. The first time, Vincent was 15 years old. He was picnicking with friends, including a boy he liked a lot. Suddenly, this one insulted him “with force and wickedness”. Well… that’s what he heard. He then replied, causing everyone to be amazed. Before realizing that his comrade’s lips were not moving. “That’s when the fear came, I said to myself: ‘I’m crazy'”, he confides. Frightened by the way others might look at him, he then takes refuge in secrecy – like many. Today he chairs the REV (French Network on Voice Understanding) which aims to free speech around this taboo.
