In 2019, Kery James created the event with Commuters, the first film he wrote and co-directed with Leïla Sy. The rapper from Guadeloupe was able to find his audience with this social fresco in which he addressed life in the cities, as well as other themes dear to his heart. Four years later, Netflix has just released the highly anticipated sequel, naturally titled Commuters 2. In this one, we find the three brothers from the first part: Soulaymaan (Jammeh Diangana), lawyer in Paris, Demba (Kery James), the eldest involved in street affairs who decided to create his business, and their little brother Noumouké (Bakary Diombera) , already embroiled in neighborhood rivalries. Number 1 on Netflix, Commuters 2 attracts many spectators, but unfortunately not all are convinced.

Commuters 2 is not unanimous among Netflix subscribers

On X, formerly Twitter, we can see that several Internet users were disappointed by Commuters 2. “I put the thumbs down on Netflix for Suburbs 2” writes an Internet user. Others find “the sloppy script, not pushed enough”. Opinions are rather mixed, but other spectators are nevertheless amazed by the film, which they consider “as well done as the first“, even “better than Commuter”. The sequel addresses many current topics such as neighborhood brawls, police violence, Islamophobia, mixed relationships, single mothers… All carried by a top-flight cast!

Has the casting of the first part changed for Commuters 2 ?

If the three main actors of Commuters are back in the second part, Chloé Jouannet, Dali Benssalah or Mathieu Kassovitz are not part of the sequel. Nevertheless, we can discover the beginnings of Alessandra Sublet (former host of It’s Canteloup) in her new career as an actress, but also actor/rapper Kofs. Sana Sri, Kadi Diarra, Chérine Ghemri and Krystel Roche complete the cast of the Netflix film.
