“I was a prosecutor, I know guys like him”

Kamala Harris lashed out at former President Donald Trump on Tuesday at her first campaign rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, accusing him of having problems with the law.

“I have seen predators of all kinds. Predators who preyed on women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules of their own game. So hear me when I tell you that I know guys like Donald Trump. And in this campaign, I will proudly fight him,” said the vice president and possible Democratic candidate for the November elections.

Before becoming vice president and then senator, Harris was attorney general for the city of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011 and for the State of California from 2011 to 2017. Harris boasted of her past linked to legality and justice in her first speech after the Biden’s resignation as Democratic presidential candidate.

In her 17-minute speech, in which she was enthusiastically cheered by the audience, Kamala Harris called for voters to avoid a future of “chaos, fear and hate.”

The vice president ran through a list of liberal priorities and said that if elected, she would act to expand access to abortion, make it easier for workers to join unions and address gun violence.

He also warned that if Trump is re-elected, he will grant tax breaks to large corporations, cut Social Security and Medicare, weaken the middle class and reduce access to health care.

“When we stand together, we win”said.

Joe Biden spoke at the event by phone and was clear about his desire for Harris to be his successor.

“I want to say to the whole team: hug her, she’s the best,” Biden said, his voice hoarse with illness.

“I know that yesterday’s news was surprising and hard to hear, but it was the right thing to do. We continue to fight this battle together, I don’t plan on going anywhere,” he added.

“We still have to save this democracy, and Trump remains a danger to the nation… So I hope you give him every bit of your heart and soul that you’ve given to me and Kamala. I also want you to know that I will not be on the ballot, I will remain fully engaged (with the campaign),” the current US president also said.

“God bless you all and God bless the United States of America and Joe Biden,” Harris said to conclude her speech.

After finishing her speech, her husband Doug Emhoff approached the podium, they held hands and together they left the room where Harris gave the first impromptu rally of the campaign with which she seeks to become the first woman to lead the White House in the 248 years of history of the United States.

Harris has raised $100 million just over one million unique donors and has recruited 58,000 new volunteers.

The current U.S. vice president led Trump 44% to 42% among registered voters in the Reuters/Ipsos national poll conducted Monday and Tuesday after Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday and endorsed Harris as his successor.
