This Friday, April 21, the essential actor of the soap The fires of love, broadcast from Monday to Friday on TF1, announced that he had prostate cancer in a video posted on his Facebook page. He explained to his community that he felt “problems” in the prostate, then having some time later had terrible pain on the set of the series forcing him to go to the hospital. The interpreter of Victor Newman then discovered that he was suffering from prostate cancer, but he was first misdiagnosed as he confided this Wednesday, May 3 to ET.

In an interview given to ETEric Braeden confessed to being “misdiagnosed at first” of the disease. He then decided to speak publicly about his cancer in order to raise awareness among other men who might be experiencing the same symptoms as his. “The reason I made this public is to let people know“, he told our colleagues. The 82-year-old comedian acknowledged that “the word cancer is scary”, but he hopes that this will not prevent anyone from having the examination. “I just want men to know that they don’t have to be afraid of that. I want them to know they need to have their prostate, bladder, colon checked“, he continued”. “Just familiarize yourself with it and be open about it.”

The actor continues his cancer treatment

Eric Braeden is currently halfway through his cancer treatment, and has only three weeks left of the infusion before continuing with a six-week break. “Right now I’m feeling pretty good”, he confided to ET. During his treatment, the comedian decided to continue filming The Young and the Restless full-time, not wanting to take a break to rest. “I come from the sports world. I don’t give up easily! I know a good attitude helps. It’s manageable”, he shared. He then returned to the incredible support he received from his fans, whom he wanted to thank warmly: “It warms the heart. We have more in common as human beings than what separates us… We are all similar.”
