According to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU), there are 16 airlines that do not charge a hand luggage supplement. These include Iberia, Air Europa and American.

These airlines allow hand luggage free of charge, but in different dimensions and weight. Iberia at basic tourist rate with a suitcase of 40x30x15 by 56x40x25 and a maximum weight of 10 kilograms, does not charge. In the case of Air Europa, in lite tourist fare with measures 35x30x20 by 55x35x25 and 10 kilograms in weight, it does not charge either.

For its part, American has no weight limit in the Basic Economy fare with dimensions of 45x35x20 by 56x36x23. Others like British Airways in economy without luggage and with the hand luggage with dimensions of 40x30x15 by 56x45x25, do not charge, as reported by El Debate.

The charge for suitcases appeared when low cost airlines emerged, so now most airlines such as Ryanair or Vueling, and others where an additional fee must be paid for hand luggage, whether in the cabin or checked in, increasing the value of the ticket that was cheap. (Long live Aerobus insists: it charges hand luggage even though it is prohibited).
