The Transparency and Access to Information Network (RTA) announced that the members that make it up reaffirm their conviction regarding the importance of guaranteeing the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Data Protection (Inai) the to be able to carry out its substantive work of promoting and protecting the human rights it protects, for the benefit of the citizenry.

In a statement, it was announced that any action that “undermines the autonomy and independence of the guarantor bodies of the RTA (to which the INAI belongs), also affects the consolidation processes of the democratic institutionality of Ibero-America.”

In addition, in the Network, it was considered that the standards for the protection of human rights that have been built over the last decades are also affected.

The organization commented that, since it was created, INAI in Mexico has collaborated to strengthen transparency and the right of access to public information and has promoted regional cooperation through the Transparency Network.

He also explained that the guarantor bodies that make up the RTA emanate from the political decision to meet the social demands of having solid, transparent, and inclusive institutions that carry out their work in similar contexts.

On the other hand, it was specified in the statement that in the Tashkent Declaration, the United Nations Organization reaffirmed the need to “have independent control bodies” such as the INAI and the rest of the institutions that make up the aforementioned Network. of Transparency.

After the pronouncement, Blanca Lilia Ibarra Cadena, president commissioner of the INAI, thanked the institutions that are members of the RTA for the support given to the Mexican guarantor body.

Through his social networks, he indicated that “multilateral cooperation has allowed us to strengthen transparency and the rights of access to information and protection of personal data throughout the region.”
