Microsoft’s latest console-exclusive video game hasn’t thrilled gamers. A disappointment that also strikes Phil Spencer, the boss of Xbox.

“There is nothing more difficult for me than to disappoint the Xbox community.” Like all players, Phil Spencer could only see the damage. The boss of Xbox returned to the criticisms that Redfallthe latest game from Microsoft, has suffered.

Available in the Game Pass, this shooting game, integrating vampires to hunt, is developed by the Arkane Austin studio, owned by the computer giant. Many tests of the title have pointed to a lack of finishing, lagging performance and an dispensable scenario.

On Metacritic, the site pooling the ratings assigned to the games, the score is only 62 (out of 100). The players, for their part, are much less tender. The rating from the public only reaches 2.6 (out of 10).

A “punch in the chin”

The boss of Xbox returned to this mixed reception during the specialized program Kinda Funny Xcast. He assured to be “disappointed”, just like the Xbox community, but also that he was “angry with himself”.

“The game came out and the critical reaction wasn’t what we wanted, and that’s disappointing,” Phil Spencer confessed.

In the viewfinder of the players, the promises not kept by the game often come back. Complaints he can only admit. “I think back to the announcement of 60fps and the fact that we didn’t deliver the game at 60fps, which was our punch in the chin, deservedly,” says Phil Spencer.

In a few weeks, Microsoft will be able to catch up with the release of Starfield scheduled for September 6. The first-person space exploration game will be highlighted on June 11 with a dedicated event. The opportunity to show even more about the game which has “still so much to show”, according to its developers.
