The artist, who will soon be appearing in the series The Idol believes “to have said everything as The Weeknd” and wants to “continue to produce music” under another name.

“I will continue to make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to destroy The Weeknd. And I will. One day or another. I’m really trying to get rid of this skin and be reborn,” he added.
One last album
This stepping back from his career is not new. In the past, the singer had already mentioned several times his desire to conclude his discography with a trilogy which would include his two albums After Hours (2020) et Dawn FM (2022), as well as a final disc, currently in preparation.

The artist also explains that he had a lot of difficulty making “back and forth” between his alter-ego The Weeknd and the character of Tedros in his series The Idol, which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, mid -may.
“During a concert, I lost my voice. It had never happened before. My theory is that I forgot how to sing because I was playing Tedros, a character who cannot sing”, assures the artist.
He concludes: “as The Weeknd, I never missed a concert. I played with the flu. I will die on this stage. But something very complicated happened in my mind at that moment I may be looking too far ahead, but it was terrifying.”
