After the Potsdam city administration was put offline at the end of last week due to an impending cyber attack, the administration’s crisis management team met on Monday afternoon. The further steps should be discussed, said press spokesman Markus Klier. Corresponding information on the work opportunities of the city administration will be available in the afternoon.

After information from security authorities about an impending cyber attack, the city administration severed the connection to the Internet on Thursday. Since then, services for citizens can no longer be provided, such as issuing passports, preparing documents or online applications for housing benefit.

The administration cannot be reached by e-mail either. Stadtwerke Potsdam, the municipal housing company ProPotsdam and the municipal clinic Ernst von Bergmann also switched off internet and e-mail connections as a precaution.

The city of Potsdam had declared at the weekend that the systems should initially be set up in such a way that, from the beginning of January, the ability to work, especially for social processes, can be maintained with alternative solutions if possible. (dpa)
