The Italian brand Fiat is continuing to supply new vehicles to the Algerian market with the arrival of another ship expected at the port of Mostaganem, thus marking the entry into a phase of massive importation of vehicles and an increase in supply on the national market.

According to the Arabic-language media Echourouk, the ship “Shipper Ro / Ro” flying the Finnish flag will dock at the port of Mostaganem on Wednesday with on board 209 vehicles of the model « Fiat 500 » from Italy.

This operation comes only three days after the arrival of another similar ship at the port of Mostaganem, which saw the entry of 413 Fiat brand vehicles, model “Tipo”, on board the Italian ship “Sardinia Vera”. These vehicles will be marketed by dealers, mainly in the west of the country.

FIAT car: massive import

This step indicates that the import operations of new vehicles by the Italian brand, which is part of the global “Stellantis” group, have entered a massive import phase thanks to repeated operations via the port of Mostaganem, but also via the port of Djendjen in Jijel, which will have an impact on the supply on the market.

It has been revealed that shipping contracts are usually done on a quarterly basis and the contracts for the last quarter were signed last December. Consequently, there were no massive vehicle import operations. In addition, the official announcement of the Fiat brand’s entry into the market took place on March 19 and the receipt of marketing orders on the 21st of the same month, a few days before the end of the first quarter.

Import operations of new vehicles are expected to expand significantly during the second quarter, and the pace of entry will increase through the ports, in particular with the entry into service of the port of Djendjen in Jijel, which can accommodate up to to 6,000 vehicles at one time, if the quantity is available from the manufacturer, of course.
