Juarez City.– The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) Chihuahua promotes healthy habits in infants with the ChiquitIMSS educational program.

The program is carried out in the Family Medicine Units (UMF), as well as in nurseries, preschool and primary schools, a bulletin reported.

ChiquitIMSS is aimed at children from 3 to 9 years old with whom preventive actions for the protection, improvement of the health and well-being of minors are worked on, it was announced.

Through this scheme, preventive actions are carried out for the protection, as well as the improvement of the health and well-being of infants, the statement said.

Fabiola Pérez Domínguez, coordinator of Social Work of the IMSS Chihuahua, said that the program is part of the national strategy PrevenIMSS.

“This is an important strategy that promotes the strengthening of lifestyles for a culture of prevention and self-care for health; what is sought is to have healthy generations”, added Pérez Domínguez.

She explained that they work through educational sessions with parents and guardians, where issues of children’s right to health, health education and development of knowledge and skills are promoted to strengthen family communication between peers and children.

“ChiquitIMSS is considered a primary network aimed at boys and girls, as well as parents or guardians, these as figures of authority, protection and education that allow strengthening affective ties and trust,” said the coordinator.
