In Brighton: authorities investigate accident where a pedestrian lost his life

DENVER, Colorado – The Brighton Police Department (BPD) is investigating a fatal collision between a car and a pedestrian early on Friday, June 30.

Initial investigation reveals that an individual driving a Jeep Cherokee struck a pedestrian on eastbound Interstate 76 near the E-470 ramp. The driver of the Jeep called the police, along with a bystander who stopped to try to render assistance.

When officers arrived, they determined the pedestrian, an unidentified male, was deceased.

One eastbound lane was closed for several hours. The driver and his passenger were not injured. The driver is not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and speed is not a contributing factor.

This crash is being investigated by Brighton Police Department detectives and road safety officers. They continue to work to identify the deceased so they can notify their next of kin.

Once identified, the name will be withheld until positive identification is made by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
