Chihuahua.— Last year, a total of approximately 300 accidents between vehicles and the railway occurred in the country, of which ten percent, that is, 30, occurred in Chihuahua, which gives an average of almost three mishaps per month.

This information was released at a conference held by Mexican Railways personnel in the municipality of Meoqui, due to the fact that mishaps have already been reported this year. According to information released by the Mayor’s Office of that municipality, the objective is to prevent more accidents from occurring in the region.

According to information from the municipal Presidency, Meoqui was the regional headquarters of the “Saving your life” conference, which was given by Ferromex personnel, with the assistance of more than 600 people including students, drivers of company transport services and educational institutions, as well as Civil Protection and Fire personnel, Public Security from the entire region and the general public. “The train is closer than you think and it moves faster than you think,” was part of the message.

Accidents with the railway have occurred in various parts of the south central region of the entity, since in addition to Meoqui, there are reports of events in Camargo and Delicias, which have left economic losses, as well as fatalities.

One of the accidents that he has highlighted occurred on March 16 with a balance of 13 people injured, after a truck transporting personnel from the Electrocomponentes company collided with the train, at the Cuauhtémoc-Anáhuac highway junction.
