The group of neighbors and merchants who met for the robberies / D. Alday

A string of assaults in businesses, homes and on public roads, in Gonnet, triggered the concern and fear of those who reside in a large sector of that town in the north of La Plata.

To such an extent, that a group of merchants and neighbors got together yesterday afternoon at Camino General Belgrano and 504. On that corner, on Tuesday night there was a violent assault on a self-service store, as this newspaper reflected in its Thursday edition.

The meeting was attended by Claudia Mangas (55), owner of that business; Norma Gullotti (62), Susana Castillo (60), Gustavo Ferrari (64), Silvia Arias (50), Laura Grozanic (60) and Jesús Vincenti (23), among others.

In addition to expressing their concern about the increase in criminal activity and expressing the fear that the situation generates in them, they agreed to demand a greater police presence. But also that public lighting lamps be placed on the Camino General Belgrano, because “darkness plays against us and thieves find it barbaric” for their plans.

REQUEST TO THE COMMISSIONER

Mangas informed EL DIA during the meeting that “today (yesterday) the commissioner and the Gonnet sectional police station came, due to the assault that took place in my business on Tuesday.”

“He told me that he saw the footage from a security camera of what happened, but that the two thieves who reduced my daughter and an employee in the premises are not known to them,” he said.

In any case, he pointed out that “the commissioner left me his cell phone number and told me that he would make himself available for any security problem that he wanted to know about.”

He revealed that he took advantage of the occasion to request “that the patrolmen pass more often.”

Regarding the radius where the criminals move, Arias explained that “they move along Calle 25 to Camino Centenario from 489 to 508.”

At his side, Castillo explained that “on Calle 28, between 489 and 500, the criminals have a point of business. A kiosk, for example, has already been robbed twice”.

Then, together with Gullotti, they denounced the lack of lighting on the Camino General Belgrano and what contributes to those who go out to steal.

For example, Grozanic emphasized that “being at a bus stop on Camino Belgrano is giving in to being assaulted, especially early in the morning and at night.” And they closed: “We take out the garbage during the day and when we arrive at night, we notify each other by WhatsApp.”
