The Bildstein local fire brigade invited to the traditional “Floriani celebration”.

Saint Florian is one of the most popular Catholic saints. He is considered the patron saint of Fire department. In his honor, the members of the local fire brigade in Bildstein celebrated the traditional local “Floriani celebration” last Saturday. Commander Markus Nenning, together with District Fire Inspector Reinhard Karg, Section Commander Martin Lecher and Mayor Walter Moosbrugger, led the short walk from the fire station to the basilica in order to place the statue of the patron saint on the altar.

After a prayer celebrated by Dean Paul Burtscher and the subsequent commemoration at the grave of the deceased honorary commander Roman Immler, the local fire brigade invited to the festive part in the Gasthof Ochsen. In addition to the culinary delights, the highlight of the entertaining evening was the honoring of Hubert Flatz, who received the gold medal for his 50-year association membership. “We in Bildstein,” says the commander, “have been celebrating the Floriani celebrations for many years, which are not so widespread in Vorarlberg. This gathering is a dignified and sociable evening for our members and their partners.” The official part of the evening ended with the outlook for the association’s year, including upcoming topics such as the adaptation of the equipment house, the fire brigade festival planned for 2025 or a call for membership recruitment. The next highlight is in autumn with the delivery of the new tank fire engine.
