Another of the brutalities of bullfighting in Spain was the use of dwarfs as a kind of clowns who harangued the public in the middle of the show.

This was finally banned by the Spanish Senate, along with other activities that denigrate people with disabilities just because of their condition.

“Recreational shows or activities in which people with disabilities or this circumstance are used to provoke mockery, mockery or ridicule from the public in a manner contrary to the respect due to human dignity are prohibited,” the text says.

The law establishes that people with disabilities will participate in public shows and recreational activities, including bullfighting, “without discrimination or exclusions that infringe their right to be fully included in the community.”

“We are not clowns. The clown takes off and puts on the costume, but we are 24 hours a day”, said Marta Castillo, president of the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) Andalusia.
