Students from the Louis-Armand college in Golbey in the Vosges say they were aware of the mockery he was subjected to. The 13-year-old schoolboy ended his life on January 7. His funeral takes place this Saturday.

The teenager’s college knew about it. A few days have passed after the suicide of Lucas, 13, on January 7 in the Vosges, and we learn a little more about his daily life in the establishment and in particular about the acts of harassment denounced by his parents, in particular in connection with their sexual orientation.

At the Louis-Armand college in Golbey, in the Vosges, where Lucas was educated, several students confide that they knew, before his death, that the teenager was the victim of mockery.

“There were comments about his physique or his appearance because he was gay”, assures the microphone of BFMTV the young Léa, who prefers to testify anonymously.

Reports in the fall

These comments corroborate those made by Lucas and his relatives. The teenager and his mother had told the establishment of “mockery” and insults related to his sexual orientation from the first parent-teacher meeting last September.

“Reports were made during the fall,” confirmed the Minister of National Education on Friday.

An administrative investigation has been opened in addition to the preliminary investigation for “harassment of minors under 15 and school harassment”, said Pap Ndiaye.

“It is up to the administrative investigation to determine why we have reached a fatal outcome,” he called.

An anti-harassment protocol yet in place

In his diary, Lucas had expressed his desire to end his life, but without referring to the harassment, according to the public prosecutor of Épinal Frédéric Nahon.

However, the Louis-Armand college is one of the establishments concerned by the pHARe program (program to combat bullying at school). This protocol for colleges and high schools offers specific measures intended both to prevent acts of harassment occurring in a school and to give staff tools to intervene.

Lucas’ mother will be heard by the prosecutor on Monday. The teenager’s funeral takes place this Saturday, before a white march scheduled for the next few days.
