In the midst of pain and family anguish, this afternoon the student Gisela Báez (19) was buried in the municipal cemetery of Panambí. The young woman died after noon yesterday, after a 24-day fight at the Madariaga de Posadas Hospital, where she was admitted with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle that was driving an apparently drunk and speeding minor.
In this context, the request for justice and immediate arrest of the protagonist of the road accident, who was identified as Mateo Román E. (16) and according to the experts, ran over from behind the motorcycle on which Gisela and her boyfriend, Braian Patiño (20), returned home after having been at her graduation party. The Police did not find him at the scene because he had already left in complicity with a relative and beyond that, they reported that when they arrived at him “he had ethylic breath.”
The student’s family finds no comfort and this was exposed in the cemetery, where they were accompanied by relatives and schoolmates of the young woman, some with whom she shared her last moments at the reception party.
As El Territorio has been publishing in monitoring the case, the run over occurred on Saturday, December 3, shortly before 6 in the morning, in a stretch of curves and slopes -about 6 kilometers from the junction with Provincial Highway 5- and Since the impact was from behind and at high speed, Gisela, who was accompanying her, took the worst part. She suffered traumatic amputation of her left leg and multiple traumas.
Her condition was very serious and that same Saturday she was transferred to Madariaga, where the doctors operated on her several times during these three weeks, but the damage ended up being irreversible for the young woman, who had planned to start a university career.
Patiño, meanwhile, was admitted to the Oberá hospital for an exposed fracture in his left leg, beyond the blows. He underwent surgery and a few days later he was discharged, although he must comply with a lengthy treatment and frequent medical check-ups to recover the mobility of the affected parts.
Unscathed
The minor in charge of the car (Volkswagen Gol) barely suffered a few scratches, left the passenger compartment by his own means and was rescued by an acquaintance who was driving behind, in another car, leaving the injured behind.
According to the Police, it was to take him to the doctor, but the relatives of the victims assure that in reality “they helped him to escape and reduce the level of alcohol he had in his blood.”
In line with that, the force reported that when they got to him, he had “ethyl breath.”
The death of Gisela Báez had a great impact on the family and part of the Panambí community, which since that tragic morning has been demanding justice, the arrest of the adolescent or that criminal responsibility falls on his parents, owners of the car with which he was killed. consummated the hit.
