The National Institute of Sports, INDES, through a statement said it was surprised by the negative reaction of the International Federation of Associated Soccer, FIFA, for the signing of an economic aid agreement for the first division of professional soccer.

INDES and the first division signed an economic aid agreement on Thursday for 7 million dollars for five years, to strengthen and take Salvadoran soccer to “another level.”

“We are going to invest $1.4 million each year in the next five years, to take Salvadoran soccer to another level, we think that with this plan we are building the path for El Salvador to qualify for the next world cup,” said Yamil Bukele, president of the INDES.

In addition, $400.00 will be given to both the Second and Third Division, $4 thousand for instruments of the organized bars and $1 million for the organization of the President’s Cup in the month of August.

In the statement, INDES explains that it was in constant communication with the first division, analyzing each part of the agreement to rely on FIFA regulations, however, the warning from the world entity before the FESFUT regularizing commission has caused it to be analyzed again. in agreement not to hinder the Clausura 2023.

At the moment there is no reason why the new national tournament that is scheduled for this weekend should not start, although if the problem with FIFA worsens, INDES will step aside, relying on a clause that was included in the agreement with the First division.

FIFA sent a statement to the Regularization Commission of the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT) where it expressed its position considering the economic and sports agreement between the National Sports Institute (INDES) and the First Division of Football “illegal”, since that this agreement is not supported by the governing body of national football.

According to the FIFA statement, this agreement does not comply with the requirements, regulations and statutes of said rector of world football. Well, this should have been signed with the Salvadoran Football Federation and not with the first division.

“The signing by the clubs or the league of the aforementioned sports cooperation agreement proposed by INDES would mean non-compliance with the aforementioned principles, since it is not an agreement signed by FESFUT or to which it is a party, nor does it have its support”, expressed FIFA through a letter sent to the president of the FESFUT Regularization Commission, Humberto Sáenz.

According to the international entity, only FESFUT is the “only football governing body in El Salvador” recognized by FIFA and CONCACAF to organize and supervise this sport.

FIFA also orders FESFUT to communicate this information to the teams of the leagues involved so that they can assess the situation.
