Buenos Aires. The representatives of more than 400 communities of indigenous peoples, in the Third Malón por la Paz who marched from Jujuy to make known the very serious situation in that province, camped in front of the Palace of Courts of this capital, waiting for the Supreme Court of Justice takes a resolution on the unconstitutionality of the reform of the Jujuy Constitution of the governor, Gerardo Morales.

Morales belongs to the right-wing opposition alliance of Together for Change and in the face of the massive protest, he resorted to repression since last June, using the methodology of the past military dictatorship (1976-1983).

Yesterday, during the round of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, like every Thursday, indigenous representatives arrived in front of the government headquarters in an action to unite both struggles for human rights. They also debated with deputies and senators from the ruling party, together with union leaders, social organizations and human rights.

There was talk of the possibility of creating a bicameral commission to investigate what happened in Jujuy both on the subject of constitutional reform and on the repression, which continues at this time, in different locations, such as Pumamarca.

Since last day 1, when they arrived in Buenos Aires, the members of El Malón de La Paz requested that the president of the Court receive a group of their leaders. They only managed to get one to pass and deliver a letter to a secretary of the magistrates, who warned that they do not have time to attend to them on their agenda.

Immediately one of the lawyers accompanying the indigenous people, who also acts in defense of his imprisoned or persecuted colleagues in Jujuy, Eduardo Barcesat, denounced that “the original peoples once again suffered unnecessary mistreatment by the judges.”

The protesters maintain that if there is no response they will not return to Jujuy.

This is a very cold night that they will have to spend outdoors, helped by the solidarity of those who send them food and blankets to keep them warm.

From different organizations and indigenous leaders come the demand for an intervention by the national government against the generalized violation of human rights in Jujuy, which must have the approval of Congress, where the right-wing opposition is against the demands of popular institutions. and they even “stand in solidarity with Governor Morales.

Through press conferences, the leaders of El Malón por la Paz assured that from now on they will remain in Permanent Assembly and will continue their demand peacefully. There was talk of discrimination and the insensitivity of judges to their requests.

They are also surrounded in the Plaza de Tribunales by security forces, despite which they were summoned to participate in the Committee on Petitions, Powers and Regulations of the Chamber of Deputies, where there were presentations by the protesters and union leaders and victims of the repression of Morales, among whom was Mijael Lamas, one of the people who lost an eye from the rubber shots on his face, among other wounded.

The Secretary of Human Rights of the nation, Horacio Pietragalla, said: “We know what system the Supreme Court responds to, it is not precisely that they side with the communities, but on the contrary, they respond to the PRO, to Cambiemos, of which it is part Gerardo Morales. We must wait for them to rule on the matter and if they do so negatively this will go to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights”.

At this time, in a wave of complaints from different organizations and political forces in this capital, it was warned that the indigenous leader Milagro Sala, illegally detained since January 16, 2016, by decision of the governor, was trying to be released from her home prison, to take her to jail.

With her husband dying, and herself with a serious health situation, Morales prevented her from being transferred to an institute in Buenos Aires, for the treatment she urgently needed.

The head of the capital’s government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, a pre-candidate for the presidency for the right-wing Together for Change, in full repression in Jujuy called on the governor to accompany him as vice president, in addition to congratulating him on what he had done in the repression he used.

All this happens in the framework of a tough campaign with a view to the primary elections, which will be held on August 13. In addition, the Ministry of Defense prevented the placement of a United States and Great Britain radar in Tolhuin, Tierra del Fuego, which would have affected the sovereignty and security of Argentina.
