At the age of 74, the former singer of Patricio Rey and his Redonditos de Ricota, Carlos “El Indio” Solari, officially announced his farewell to the stage. The singer made the decision due to the disease he suffers from and starred in an emotional interview, as a farewell.

“Unfortunately for me, for my taste, Parkinson’s is progressing. But hey, it is what it is and you have to fight it,” Solari said in a radio interview with the Spanish host Mariscal Romero.

When asked if he would play again, as he has done for the last 40 years, Solari ruled it out. “At this moment the door is ajar, because my illness is not allowing me to be in my best version. And it seems to me that I no longer want to show up because of this illness that I have… I don’t want to be an artist who is fighting there on stage. El Indio has served his time,” he said.

“I have already decided this for a long time,” added the former leader of Los Redondos and El Indio Solari and the Air Conditioning Fundamentalists. “When I deliver, I give the band and the mark to The fundamentalists because they behaved towards me with great enthusiasm and emotion during the 15 years we were together, I had known for a long time that when the matter of being old, young, young artist came to me, I did not want the Indian to be up there. I already have it prepared, I’m not suffering or grieving, I don’t miss the stage much, “she also said with great emotion.

Although he will not act as a vocalist from now on, Solari will be linked to music. It is that he has two projects in mind and will be able to continue working from a musical studio. In the last few months, some of the songs that he produced with his two alternative projects, The Mister and the Extinct Marsupials and The Shy Singer.

In this sense, he confessed: “From time to time, When I see the boys play, something grabs me, but it’s not a drama. I am calm and doing what I like the most. I wouldn’t like it to stop me from making songs at some point, because what I like the most, in everything that has happened to me, is to make 10 new songs for people to sing. And that I would not like to have to leave it. But for the live show, there are the boys, who do it very well, they are a band that sounds like a motherfucker. I love them so much that I enjoy them.”

Already in 2019, the popular singer questioned the possibility of giving a recital again by assuring that he did not know if there would be “another mass”, as his followers call the concerts, and conditioned this possibility on the appearance of “a new medicine that prolongs my well-being a little while longer”.

“Right now I can’t and I don’t have much of a life ahead of me either, We are going to think that I am not going to do it”, he would add at that time.

During an interview with his biographer, Marcelo Figueras, broadcast by El Destape radio, he indicated: “I have learned to say that I don’t know. My problem is that I don’t generate dopamine. What else do I want in life than to play live? It’s the where I feel most comfortable. Now I can’t.”

He also stated that it is his intention “to at least play live in the studio and stream it.” Along these lines, Solari assured: “I always have projects. When there are so many people who are moved by what you do, projects are never lacking. I’m drawing again and writing.”
