The Fairkaufhaus has moved: It is now on Albrechtsstraße near the Rathaus Steglitz S-Bahn station. Shortly before Christmas, the social department store opened its new home in the heart of Steglitz: whether furniture, household items, clothing or toys, good quality used goods are for sale at Albrechtstraße 117 at fair prices.

The assortment is fed by apartment resolutions and individual donations. The Fairkaufhaus was an institution in Lichterfelde for many years; However, the previous address at Am Stichkanal behind Goerzallee was difficult to reach by public transport. People with and without disabilities also work together in the department store team at the new central location.

The Fairkaufhaus is a “great institution,” said City Councilor for Culture and Education Cerstin Richter-Kotowski (CDU) at the opening. The store doesn’t just make “fair offers at a fair price for people who can’t afford more”. The department store also creates jobs and makes offers for qualification. “Especially in these turbulent times, many feel a bit excluded from social life,” added City Councilor Tim Richter (CDU): “The Fairkaufhaus is about much more than just going shopping.”

The opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Another tip: The non-profit “Union Sozialereinrichtungen”, which runs the Fairkaufhaus, offers help with the liquidation of apartments and the transport of donations.
