In a call relayed by franceinfo this Friday, February 17, the association France Addictions considers problematic the advertisements of influencers for the gambling group La Française des Jeux, because offering ” credits to play, which encourage you to bet more”, and make gambling particularly attractive to a young audience. Yet, driven by partnerships, this type of content remains legal.
So, last month, Clarisse Luiz, influencer with 23,000 subscribers, invites her followers to click on a link, directly linked to the FDJ, which she attaches to her post. Sponsored content obliges, she indicated in the description that her Instagram post follows “(his) collaboration with @fdj_officiel”.

However, the association does not blame the authors of this content but more the sponsor – la Française des Jeux – and calls on the government to put in place a new Evin law on gambling, “ to regulate advertising for games as we do for alcohol, in order to regulate the content of these advertisements, but also to reduce their presence in the public space and on the internet”.
Prohibit the promotion of these games by influencers?
For its part, the Française des Jeux, which announced record results for the year 2022 with a turnover of 2.5 billion euros, up 9%, confirms working with influencers, but says it ensures that prevention messages are always present on sponsored videos. She also said that she ensured that influencer audiences were around 3 to 5% depending on the case in the 13-17 age group.

Questioned by Franceinfo, the Ministry of the Economy assures that “Additional measures, such as a total ban on the promotion of these games by influencers, or at least those with a minor audience, are being discussed with MEPs. »
