San Luis Potosi.– The National Institute of Migration (INM) specified that of the more than 100 migrants found in Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, after various operations, it only has 27 of them under its protection so far.
In official information, the INM explained that the other foreigners are still at the disposal of the Attorney General of the State of San Luis Potosí (FGJE).
“The FGJE made 27 foreigners available to the INM Representation Office in that entity, 23 of them of Venezuelan nationality and four from El Salvador, located on April 6 on highway 57 in Matehuala, victims of the probable crime deprivation of liberty”, revealed a delegation from the federal institution.
It was detailed that among the foreigners that the INM already has, there are four family nuclei and eight adults who were traveling alone.
“(The INM) is waiting for what the State Prosecutor’s Office determines with respect to other foreigners and thus the institute will help as far as the immigration situation is concerned,” it added.
It was reported that the relatives will be channeled to the Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, and that the adults will receive the Visitor Card for Humanitarian Reasons.
Also, that consular authorities of El Salvador have already gone to the INM Representation Office to talk with their compatriots.
Indicates SLP ineffectiveness of GN; blame migrant trafficking company
Just yesterday, Governor Ricardo Gallardo (PVEM) revealed that the migrants would be transferred to INM facilities in Mexico City.
“As you could see, they are undocumented, they are already receiving medical attention, food, in a center that is in Matehuala and tomorrow they are already turning themselves in to Migration in Mexico City, that is where our work ends, continue working so that this does not happen,” he said in the Municipality of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, where he was mayor.
He affirmed that the National Guard (GN) is not being efficient in monitoring highways, such as Route 57 that leads from the center of the Country to the northern border; therefore, he defended his purchase of Mustang patrol cars for the highway division of the state police.
“That is why to all those who said that he was crazy because he wanted to put patrols on the roads, they already saw that they do take care of it, it is a demand that we have been making, in the last year, where the roads lack more care, where the GN He has to make more effort to take care of the roads, he is overwhelmed, because we must remember that they did a cleanup of the PF, they do not have elements, they do not have highway patrols, “he said.
“For a year I have been insisting that there should be a State Highway Police, San Luis Potosí is going to be the first state of the 32 entities to have a highway police on federal highways and the first to sign an agreement with the Federation to authorize us to help them patrol federal highways.”
Likewise, it also revealed that the San Luis Potosí Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the company “Grupo Eifel”, which denounced the plagiarism of its two drivers and at least 21 migrants after leaving San Felipe, Guanajuato, for allegedly engaging in the transfer of migrants in the region.
“The tourist company was the one who promoted these coyotajes, the ones they received. The investigations are already on them, they received payments of 60,000 pesos to take undocumented people, they themselves turned these people over to crime, so they could take them to the border charging another 60,000 pesos, the investigations of San Luis Potosí, as the Government of Guanajuato very surely has to do, is to go after these tourist operating companies,” he said.
