For 37.9% of Romanians, the biggest fear regarding the war in Ukraine is the increase in prices, 30% fear Russia attacking some NATO member countries, and 20.3% say they have no fears of this subject, according to a survey carried out by INSCOP at the behest of News.ro. Almost 40% believe that Ukraine will win the war, while almost 30% bet on Russia.

“Who do you think is the main culprit for starting the war in Ukraine?”.

  • 49.2% of respondents indicated Russia, 16.6% – USA, 7% – Ukraine, 5.2% – NATO, 2.6% – EU, and 19.4% do not know or do not answer.

As for the winner of the war in Ukraine, 39.4% believe that Ukraine will be the winner, and 29.6% believe that the war will be won by Russia.

Also, 64% of those surveyed say that the solution to stop the war would be for Russia to withdraw and return the occupied territories to Ukraine, and 24.1% opt for the option in which Ukraine should make certain concessions to Russia.

In the chapter “Fears regarding the war in Ukraine”, the majority, 37.9%, indicated the increase in prices and the cost of living, the percentage being lower than in March, when 44.3% had this concern. In second place is the possibility of Russia attacking NATO member countries, a variant taken into account by 30% of those surveyed, compared to 27.6% in March. The number of those who have no fears related to the conflict in Ukraine represents 20.3%, increasing compared to March, when it was 14.2%. Those who fear the increase in the number of refugees represent 7.5%, down from March, when it was 11.5%.

The opinion poll was carried out by INSCOP Research on behalf of News.ro. The data were collected between September 15 and 22, using the CATI method (telephone interviews). The volume of the simple, stratified sample is 1550 people, representative of the significant sociodemographic categories (sex, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over. The maximum allowed error of the data is ± 2.49 %, at a confidence level of 95%.
